BEFORE AND AFTER BROW TREATMENT

PLEASE READ (call for appointment)
If you’ve ever hired a professional painter, than I am sure you are familiar with the term, “it’s all in the prep”. Professionals in such fields of work know that the more time they spend prepping the area and getting it ready, the better prepared they will be for the overall outcome. In turn, the same goes for Permanent Makeup Enhancements. The BEST results come from proper prep.

The MAGIC starts with the perfect canvas!
The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive, and non-irritated. Please take note of what needs to be done to prepare for your appointment...

PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT:
-Do not take aspirin or Ibuprofen 2 days prior to and after your enhancement.
-Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure
-Do not tan two weeks prior to the service, or have a sunburned face
-Do not use Retin A skincare products close to the enhancement area 1 month prior to and after your procedure.
-Do not use AHA skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to and after your procedure.
-Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to the procedure
-Do not work out the day of the procedure
-Do not have botox 3 weeks prior to the procedure
-Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior to the procedure (they are natural blood thinners)

Now that you are aware of the necessary prepping, please familiarize yourself with the aftercare listed below:

AFTER APPOINTMENT:
- The area treated may show redness and swelling and that the color looks dark and intense – this is quite normal.
- Additional treatments cannot be undertaken until the area has completely healed. A 6-8 week healing time is required before any more work can be undertaken.
-In order to let your brows heal well, avoid water on the brow area. No long hot showers and steam until scabs naturally peels off.
- No working out (excess sweating) or sauna for 12 days.
- Do not wear makeup or use any facial products on the treated area for 2 weeks
- Once the area has healed completely, consider using a waterproof total sunblock when going out in the sun to help the color from fading.
- Strong chemicals or glycolic acid/peels of any kind may cause the pigment to lighten. Always telephone and check with your consultant if in any doubt.
- Do not pick or pull at the treated area as it will result in pigment loss. You will go through three healing phases: 1-heal, 2-peel and 3-fade
-You may notice whiteness or blanching around the area, this is quite normal and will subside within 12 hours. If you find any lymphatic fluid or blood weeping you can gently clean the area with saline, cool boiled water and gauze, blotting gently dry to remove any moisture.
- Use Q-tip to apply a very thin layer of aftercare balm to the treated area for 7-10 days. Do not use ointment For OILY SKIN TYPE.
- After the scabbing has sloughed away you will see a different hue to the color implanted.

- Giving Blood : The Red Cross have suggested that you do not give blood for 6 months following treatment.
- MRI Scans : This procedure shows up as an artifact on the scan. Some clients may experience a tingling sensation. Please notify your radiologist.
- Injectable : Dermal fillers and Botox can alter the shape of the eyebrows. The client should be advised that injectable should be carried out after and not prior.
- Laser /Pulsed Light : Laser or pulsed light hair removal or skin rejuvenation treatments can cause color change – it is important to advise the therapist that you have had Microblading procedure as this cannot be rectified with another Microblading procedure.
- Color Refreshing – To keep your new brows looking at their best it is recommended that you have a color refresh procedure every 12-18 months.

The results of Microblading can last anywhere from 10 to 18 months while Ombré Powder Brow can last up to 3 years. However, a touch up once a year is recommended to retain the shape and saturation of pigment.

There are several physiological factors that help determine the average speed, healing time, and effectiveness of the healing process. They include:

*Age – Generally, as with any type of skin trauma, older looser skin tends to take a bit longer than younger skin to heal and regenerate.

* Skin Type – Scarring affects different skin types differently based on collagen production. Darker skin, for example is susceptible to raised keloid scars, while lighter skin may have a more sunken pitted appearance.

* Circulation – Good circulation facilitates healthy fresh blood flow through the wounded area, and cuts down considerably on healing time.

*Estrogen Levels – Estrogen affects wound healing by regulating a variety of genes associated with regeneration.

*How Easily Or Severely You Swell And/Or Bruise – Although permanent eyebrows are least affected by swelling and bruising, some individuals are extremely prone which can extend the amount of time it takes to heal.

* Diet – Studies suggest that good nutrition and “power” foods ( that contain proteins, vitamins A, C, and Zinc) promote healing.

* Stress – Stress results in the deregulation of the immune system, which is proven to cause a substantial delay in wound healing.

* Diabetes – Diabetic individuals show a documented impairment in the healing of acute wounds.

* Smoking – Smoking causes a delay in wound healing and an increase in complications such as infection, rupture, leakage, and sometimes even necrosis.
Excessive Physical Activity – Excessive exercise or activity could cause an increased risk of abrasion, and the sensitive areas to stretch making scabbing difficult.
Exposure To Sunlight – Excessive sun exposure can cause reddening, blistering, and inflammation potentially causing infection and scarring to the already sensitive area.
Medications – Some medications may interfere with response to inflammation, platelet function, and an ability to form clots, significantly affecting healing.

All of these factors are out of my control, so any possibility to provide guarantees for the treatment is excluded.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PLEASE READ (call for appointment)
1. Are you certified?
Yes, I am a Licensed and Certified Permanent Makeup Artist.

1 1/2. Where are you located?
I am currently in Jacksonville, FL.

2. What is a Ombre Eyebrow Tattoo?
Instead of creating hair strokes in the eyebrow like Microblading, this technique is natural shading, a gradient effect from the beginning of the brow to the end starting from light and fading to dark, giving your brow the sharp yet natural look.

3. What are Microshaded Brows?
These are almost identical to Ombre Brows, however instead of a shaded front I implement hair-like strokes at the front of your brows that blend into the brow to create a natural flowing look.

4. What other permanent makeup services do you do?
I also tattoo beauty marks. If you want to enhance freckles and beauty marks or even create them, I provide that service.

4 1/2. What other services do you provide?
-Shadowing: PMU artists are able to shadow me and learn my techniques and secrets. :)

5. Does it hurt?
I get mixed reviews on pain. Everyone has a different level of sensitivity so topical anesthetics can be applied before and during the treatment to alleviate any sensation or discomfort. Don't worry too much though, many clients have felt no pain at all and even fall asleep during the procedure! :)

Feel free to bring your own ear phones and music to distract you.

6. Is it safe?
Absolutely. Sterilized, disposable needles and supplies are used during the process.

7. Will I be swollen?
You might have some swelling and may even have slightly red skin around eyebrows, but this would last no more than a few hours.

8. Will I need a touch up?
Most likely, but not always necessarily. Within a week of your first treatment the color will fade significantly and over the next four to six weeks can continue to fade as much as 40%. This is considered an extremely positive occurrence as it allows you time to reflect on your shape and color. After this period your follow-up appointment is carried out. At this point any changes you would like to make are discussed.

9. How often do I need a touch up?
In order to keep your eyebrow tattoo results looking fresh, I recommend a touch up every year.

10. How long does it last?
It will last as long as it’s maintained. Untouched, the ink can last up to 1 - 3 years.

11. Why do I need a touch up if this is semi-permanent?
Because color is implanted in the facial area there tends to be more fluid circulation than other parts of the body. Your face sees the most wear of any piece of you—exposure to the sun, food, facial products—the list goes on and on. All of these things cause permanent color to fade, this is why you need a touch up.

12. How long does it take?
The procedure takes roughly about 3 hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Please allow a solid 4-hour window for your appointment. I likely won’t need that much time, but this isn’t something I want to rush.

13. If my brows were completed by a different artist, will my service be considered a touch up?

No, if your brows have been done by a different artist then your service will be considered an initial appointment. Corrections done on previous work can be very complicated, time consuming, and 100% result cannot be guaranteed.

14. Do I need to take a day off work?
No. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after. Your brows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your activities of daily living.

15. How long does it take to heal?
Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to 14 days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before I consider the process complete.

16. What’s the process like?
Eyebrow tattoo is a two-step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a touch up between 6 to 8 weeks after.

After taking your before photo, I will draw the brow design in pencil so you get an idea of shape and form. (Please note that nobody’s face is totally symmetrical and you need to be realistic with your expectations. There is no point in trying to make the eyebrows identical or match a photo of your favorite celebrities' or another person’s eyebrows if your face shape looks nothing like theirs.). Once we have agreed on a final shape (ultimately it is your decision. – but I will always voice my opinion on what I think suits you aesthetically), We will then decide on the color. (If you feel more comfortable with your own drawing, please come with your eybrow makeup on.

17. What can’t I do after the procedure?
You are advised to keep the skin clean and dry - that means no swimming, sweating or otherwise getting the area wet; no tanning or prolonged sun exposure; no picking, peeling, scratching or rubbing the tattoo, this may result in a loss of color and scarring. You can still wash your hair and face and once they’re healed up, you treat them as your own.

18. How do I extend the life of the procedure?
Your beautiful eyebrows will last longer if you apply sun block often and avoid abrasive facial treatments in the brow area.

19. How many color do you have?
Of the 10 main colors I use, I can blend several to achieve even more shades to suit the client. ALL clients who have had the procedure done will be conscious they have brows that are very obvious, however please bear in mind, the skin has been broken to allow the pigment settle, and healing has yet to take place. This is why I ask you to bring your eyebrow pencil (if you use one) with you at appointment - so I can match the pigment to the desired HEALED RESULT, which emerges after the crusts naturally fall off and the skin gently exfoliates naturally itself to reveal the new brow. Clients who are used to having no brows for a long time, can find these few weeks challenging. I usually advise clients who have no brows to start wearing pencil or brow shading for some time before the process so they get used to having a brow!

20. I already have permanent makeup and want to change the shape. Can you help?
Yes, changes to your old design can be made. Prior to booking an appointment, please send a picture of your eyebrows to my email at browdownbookings@gmail.com and which treatment you would like to have done.

21. Do you have to shave off my own eyebrows?
No. Every attempt is made to retain all natural hair and integrate it into the design of the permanent eyebrows. In some cases, where shaping of the natural brow is required, a few hairs here and there may need to be removed to create a clean and aesthetically pleasing result.

22. Will eyebrow tattooing harm any existing eyebrow hair?
No, it will not harm any existing eyebrow hairs, as hair growth is mainly affected by hormones, health, and to a lesser extent, nutrition. However in some clients, getting an eyebrow tattoo can possibly stimulate hair to grow in the area that the tattoo is done. When this happens it's a real added bonus!

23. I have heard some clients just do not retain pigment even after a few visits. Could this happen?
Yes, it does happen and yes it's true!
A third appointment is often set up so the client has the opportunity to return and I get the chance to review the work and sort out any (if any) tweaks that might need to be done. Often times the clients cancel this apt as all is usually well, however there are the occasional few that may need one or two extra strokes to finish off the look. Some ladies skin may react to the trauma of the tattooing, and the skin may try to push out the foreign body of pigment by producing an extreme scab, so they eventually fall off taking all the pigment with it. There is a condition called Pigment Allergy (PPD Allergy, a condition known by dermatologists) or Auto Immune disease symptoms (the client may not even be aware of it). The skin would have over reacted and become super sensitive to the pigment and reject it at any cost.

24. Can you guarantee your work?
Unfortunately, I can't. How the skin will react is different for everyone and many factors are to be taken into consideration. Post treatment aftercare, skin type, age, scarring, diet, stress levels, facial products used, etc. all play a key role in how the pigment will hold, which is why it is important to know that more than one touch up may be required.
I can guarantee that your face is important to me and that I will act in accordance with my experience and expertise to give you my absolute best. I can guarantee that I will strive to make you gratified and content every time. But there are no guarantees in this industry. Please think long and hard before you decide to go for it.

25. What if I don’t like it?
Although Microblading or Ombré brows are considered to be semi-permanent, the procedure does allow flexibility for color or shape change to some extent. However, I will work closely with you to ensure that you are satisfied with the proposed technique. If you do not like the decision you made, the Touch Up can be cancelled and the pigmented area naturally fades away over time. If you aren’t 100% sure you would benefit from this procedure, please opt for a more temporary option.
